The Departments at a Glance

The mission of the Department of Educational Administration & Policy Studies is to enhance the understanding and practice of educational leadership and policy at all levels of schooling. The faculty are regionally, nationally and internationally recognized experts in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary school leadership, as well as educational policy.

The four divisions of the Department of Educational & Counseling Psychology represent a multidisciplinary endeavor devoted to research, teaching, and service in the use of psychological principles which promote lifelong growth, learning, and development in multiple life roles and contexts.

The Department of Educational Theory & Practice prepares educational practitioners and researchers with specialties in curriculum and evaluation theory, language in education, science and mathematics teaching, and instructional design and technology. The Department's teacher preparation program provides professional education to graduate students leading to certification to teach mathematics, natural science, social studies, English, foreign languages, and English as a Second Language. Its programs include an online master’s degree in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology.

Research published by Department of Reading faculty and students has been ranked as the best in the Northeast and among the top ten in the nation. The faculty are committed to training masters students and mentoring doctoral students in the critically needed area of literacy studies. An online degree in early childhood/child education (literacy) is included among its many offerings.
