Susan D. Phillips to Serve Second Term and Chair National Advisory Committee
Albany, NY (December 18, 2013) - Dr. Susan D. Phillips, University at Albany Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, was appointed to a second term on, and elected chair of, the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI).
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan announced the committee appointments just prior to NACIQI’s December meeting where Phillips was elected chair.
NACIQI advises the Secretary on accreditation matters and the certification process for postsecondary institutions. It makes recommendations to the Secretary about which accrediting or state approval agencies should be accepted as reliable authorities for judging the quality of higher education institutions and programs.
A vocational psychologist, Phillips is former dean of the School of Education and holds a faculty appointment in the School’s Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology.
