The College of Arts and Sciences, Social Sciences & Area Studies (including Economics) Undergraduate Individual Recognition Ceremony

When and Where?

  • Saturday May 20, 2017 at 4:30pm
  • Athletic Complex-SEFCU Arena
  • Registration required via MyUalbany. Maximum of 10 guests per student.
  • University-wide Torchlight Reception will be held at 7:30pm, hosted by the Alumni Association. Registration is required via MyUalbany.

*Important Information*

Any student completing graduation requirements in Summer 2017 that would like to particpate in the individual recognition ceremony must register through their MyUalbany page. For inclusion in the department program, you must submit an email before 4:00 pm on 4/14 to Stephanie White, Please include your name, ID number, and date of expected degree completion.

  • All undergraduate Economics majors who expect to graduate in Spring or Summer 2017 are invited to attend. ?(Students who are not official degree candidates for May 2017 but will complete their degree in Summer 2017 must send an email by 4/14 to Stephanie White at so that your name can be listed in the program).

What's Happening?

  • Students must wear academic regalia. Recognition Ceremony is inclusive of several study areas within the College of Arts and Sciences. Please visit Commencement website for more information.
  • Students will be given an index card before the ceremony starts to write a note of thanks. Professor Sattinger will read it as you cross the stage.
  • Individual recognition of each graduate on the platform, and presentation of certificate.
  • A photo area will be available for graduates and their families to take pictures.
  • Ceremony will be live streamed. URL will be provided at a later date. University-wide torchlight ceremony will be held at 7:30 pm (tickets required), see commencement website.

What Else?

  • Please check the commencement website for more details including instructions on parking
  • Torch Night Ceremonies begin at 7:30 pm at Lecture Center Concourse/Fountain
  • University- wide Undergraduate Degree Conferral Ceremony, Sunday May 21, 11:00 am at the Entry Plaza at the top of Collins Circle. Graduates should arrive by 10:00 am and assemble TBA. Participants must wear proper academic regalia. Guests should arrive by 9:30 am. No tickets are required. Students are asked to bring no more than 10 guests.
