Requirements for the Minor in Economics

(Rephrased from recent Undergraduate Bulletins)

Requirements for students matriculating Fall 2004 and later:

A minimum of 18 graduation credits from course work with an A Eco prefix including:

Eco 110 and 111
Four additional courses at or above the 300 level. (Note: Eco 300, 301, and 320 all require a course in calculus as a prerequisite, in addition to Eco 110 and 111. Most other courses at the 300 level require only Eco 110 and 111.)

Requirements for students matriculating before Fall 2004:

A minimum of 18 graduation credits from course work with an A Eco prefix including:

Eco 110 and 111
Eco 300 or 301 (Note: Both Eco 300 and 301 now require a course in calculus, as prerequisite)
Three additional courses, including at least two at or above the 300 level. (Note: If Eco 300 and 301 are both taken, one counts toward the 300/301 requirement and the other counts as an "additional course.")

Notes on double-counting courses in the minor:

A student with one major and one minor cannot use the same course to satisfy requirements for both the major and the minor. For example, a Sociology major with an Economics minor cannot use Eco 341 (=Soc 371) for both the major and the minor.
A student with a combined major-minor sequence and an additional minor can double-count courses, as follows: the same course can be used to fulfill requirements in both the combined program and the additional minor. For example, a Business Administration major with an Economics minor can count Eco 110, 111, and an upper level elective (such as Eco 350) for both the major and the minor.
A student with one major and two minors can double-count courses, as follows: the same course can be used to fulfill requirements in the major and in either minor. For example, a Mathematics major with an Economics minor (plus a second minor) can use Eco 351 (=Mat 301) for both the major and the minor.
