EAS Alumna Siqi Zhang
Siqi Zhang, fluent in Chinese, English, Russian and Japanese, is originally from Harbin in the People's Republic of China. She double majored in Japanese and Accounting, and double minored in Business and Math. She was the valedictorian of her Business School class in 2005.
After 2.5 years as an accountant at IBM, she joined Pitney Bowes as an international internal auditor. She writes, "I am so excited about this career move. I would say that Japanese really helped me to get this position.
I personally feel nowadays that the business world is getting more and more competitive. Entry level positions in the United States are being increasingly outsourced to developing countries. These days, Americans compete not only with others in the US, but also with other intellectuals from all over the world. This is the result of Globalization. If I did not major in Japanese studies in school, I would not have been able to get this offer from Pitney Bowes.
I really encourage students to acquire more knowledge while they are still in school. Down the road, all knowledge will help them to move on further."
