Dr. Kalas has been a member of the EAPS faculty since 2002. Prior to that he served for many years in the SUNY System Administration in the areas of research, international education, continuing education and economic development. He also has served as Graduate Dean (at Empire State College) and as Interim Academic Vice President and Interim President at SUNY Potsdam. At other institutions he served as Vice President and Director of Extension Services. He has also taught for several years in his field, which is philosophy. His research and writing are in the area of the impact of governmental policies on higher education, particularly policies pertaining to research and economic development.
