Certificate for NYS Practitioners This basic introductory certificate provides foundation knowledge for public health workers with limited formal education or training in public health. These courses are offered in regional workshops or via distance learning (online or webstream). The certificate is sponsored by the NYS Department of Health in partnershiop with the School of Public Health. It does not offer academic credit.
Who should register?
Public health practitioners in local health departments and the NYS Department of Health are eligible to participate with permission from their supervisor.
What are the requirements and costs?
Participants must register for the certificate and complete the requirements and two electives as laid out on the Foundations Tracking Sheet. Instruction and materials are provided at no charge*. Travel costs and obtaining release time are the responsibility of the participant.
*The elective online NYSNA course "Public/Community Health Nursing Orientation" has a minimal fee of $8.
**Two of the EH 104 classes count as one elective.
