Mission
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) supports academic and scholarly excellence for ALL students, faculty and staff by establishing and sustaining a campus culture that reflects a fundamental respect for different ways of thinking, living, working and learning. We view diversity holistically, as encompassing a variety of dimensions. To ensure a discrimination free learning and working environment the ODI neither condones nor tolerates practices that discriminate against any person.
The Office oversees, facilitates, and supports efforts to create an inclusive environment and ensure equal opportunity for the entire University at Albany community.
In effort of supporting the mission of the Office, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion strategically focuses on areas of Institutional Equity and Diversity Transformation:
- Institutional Equity is achieved through ensuring compliance with federal/state equal opportunity and affirmative action laws /regulations; SUNYS Non-discrimination Policy; and UAlbany’s Affirmative Action Programs.
- Diversity Transformation is facilitated by providing opportunities to dialogue, develop and implement activities that encourage different ideas and perspectives. Funds may also be available to support individual, group and departmental efforts in achieving the goals of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
