The American Library Association has noted that a new perspective on library instruction is
emerging that incorporates the more traditional skills of locating and using information sources
with the process of learning from information. A current trend in information seeking behavior
is the lack of use of traditional print sources for research, and a move toward only using Internet
sources.
Google alone is not an acceptable research tool for every purpose. There is no guarantee that
the information you are retrieving from Google even comes from a reliable source. That is why it
is important to educate students on how to properly use the Internet for research purposes.
This Unit covers 4 areas of Internet Research:
- Selecting
- Searching
- Evaluating
- Citing
