"People who are considered to be literate in the world of Information know how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively to solve problems or make decisions – whether the information they select comes from a computer, a book, a government agency, a film, or any number of other possible resources." – ALA Presidential Committee
This website is a supplement to the “Introduction to Information Literacy” course being taught at the Hudson Falls Senior High School. Students in this course will learn the necessary skills to become “Information Literate People”. This course covers four main units: Copyright and Fair Use, The Internet: Selecting, Searching, Evaluating, and Citing, Bias in the News, and Effects on the Media. There are links to the left providing lesson plans, handouts, and useful links related to these four main categories. There is also a link to the staff development training on correctly using databases (NOVEL, Eric, and Gale). Please send your questions about this course, or materials provided on this page to the Senior High Library Media Specialist. Contact information is provided on the menu. |
