Biography

Snejana Slantcheva, (Ed. D. UMass Amherst) is a Bulgarian researcher of higher education and a fellow of the Open Society Institute in Budapest. Her research and publications have focused on higher education policy issues in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The recent projects she has been involved in concentrate on private higher education ("Should Free Entry of Universities be Liberalized? Estimating the Value of Public and Private Higher Education in Central and Eastern Europe" supported by PHARE-ACE), labor market impact on higher education ("The Growth and Labor Market Impact of Private Higher Education" supported by the Black And Caspian Sea Collaborative Research Program, IREX: International Research and Exchanges Board, Washington D.C.) and the academic profession ("The Academic Profession in a Changing International Environment" coordinated by Boston College).
