Biography

Hirosuke Honda completed his M.A., focusing on Higher Education Administration at Obirin University in Tokyo, Summer 2001. During the program, he studied with and also conducted administrative assistantship to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

From Spring 2002, he worked as Assistant to the President at Daito Bunka University in Tokyo (comprehensive M.A. granting institution enrolling 15,000 students). His major task was university-level planning by analyzing higher education policies from the Japanese Ministry of Education and other universities' strategic plans. He also worked for various faculty committees and projects in academic affairs.

In the U.S. he has research and internship experiences in university-community partnership at University of Pennsylvania and Michigan State University. He also interned at American Council on Education regarding cross-boarder higher education.

His research interests are: 1) exploring various approaches of privatization of public higher education in the U.S., 2) university-community partnerships, and 3) case study methods for professional development programs.

Hirosuke is currently a collaborative researcher at National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation in Tokyo. His focus is on strategic planning and institutional research at U.S. colleges and universities.
