Biography

Dr. Asha Gupta, a former Principal of one of the colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi is currently engaged in post-doctoral research on 'Vocationalization, Internationalization and Privatization of Higher Education in India'. She has been teaching political science at the University of Delhi for the last 30 years. A recipient of University Grants Commission's Career Award in Humanities, Dr. Gupta has authored many a books and research articles. Her latest books include: Beyond Privatization: A Global Perspective (UK, IPSA-Macmillan Series in Advanced Studies, 2000), Changing Perspectives of the Welfare State: The Issue of Privatization (New Delhi, Pragati Publications, 1994). Dr. Gupta has varied interests ranging from political economy to gender studies, privatization and internationalization of higher education to costs sharing, students' loan and vocationalization in higher education. She is a recipient of Shastri Indo-Canadian and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Senior Research Fellowships. Reading, writing and travelling are the main passions of her life.
