Romanian Diploma Annulled

PROPHE Summary
The diplomas given by Romania’s largest private universities have been nullified by the government. The article gives an astounding  nullification number of 100,000. An alternative route for affected students is to pass the graduation examination of a public institution.

Romania has been one of the European countries with among the higher private shares of total enrollment since soon after the fall of Communism. However, it was also among the most striking cases of government crackdown after the initial unregulated proliferation It appears that both the market temptation to offer shoddy, lenient education, and the government commitment to drawing some regulatory lines both remain in effect.
