PROPHE's
Joint Project with Boston College's CIHE
(Center for International Higher Education; director, Monan Professor
Philip G. Altbach)
Funded
by the Ford Foundation
Complementing PROPHE's basic missions, this project centers on data.
The core purpose is to address the dearth of data on private higher
education globally. To this end, we:
1. Prioritize collection
of statistics, laws, and regulations worldwide;
2. Organize and collate this material to the extent possible
so that it is accessible and understandable
3. Provide an online database for accessing such information
4. Also collect reports from government and other sources, key
publications, debate documents, structural,
descriptions, and related
data.
The project includes
both joint undertakings by CIHE
and PROPHE and particular undertakings concentrated in one of the two
institutions. The joint undertakings mostly involve gathering data worldwide.
The activities concentrated at PROPHE revolve around placing the data
search and analysis within PROPHE's basic mission of building knowledge
about private higher education. PROPHE will publish a regular column
on private higher education in the CIHE's International Higher Education.
NOTE: prophe@albany.edu
and highered@bc.edu welcome
the submission especially of statistics, laws, and regulations.
We anticipate providing guidelines in the near future but would receive
reliable and appropriately cited data at any time. We also welcome inquiries
in this regard.

& Laws section of PROPHE website as the joint PROPHE-CIHE project
develops.
