OUR PHILOSOPHY
You
have a better chance of becoming a doctor, entrepreneur, lawyer, engineer,
computer or communication analyst than becoming a professional basketball
player.
P.L.A.Y. (Planned Learning Achievement for Youth) is a non-profit organization
located in Amherst, Massachusetts. We're dedicated to providing you
with the academic, athletic and personal skills needed to turn a collegiate
experience into a college degree.
Our program
is free to all participants and consists of two parts:
15 day summer session and a 5 year round follow-up program.
The summer session combines intensive academic and athletic training
- including academic core study and note-taking workshops, life-long
skills and SAT/ACT preparation.
The follow-up tracks both academic progress and life skills development
for 5 years or until you graduate from college depending on which one
comes first.

You've
played basketball all your life. Maybe you think it's the best thing you
do, maybe you dream about taking it straight to the top: the NBA/WNBA.
Lots of kids have the same dream. 99.5% of you will not see it
come true.
|
But
basketball can still get you somewhere - to a college education
and a degree. And that's no dream. That's reality. This truth is
the foundation of P.L.A.Y. It's expressed in P.L.A.Y.'s motto: NON
SATIS LUDERE. In Latin, OUR MOTTO MEANS "TO PLAY IS NOT ENOUGH."
In other words, it means your future holds more than basketball
- but basketball is where your future can begin.
