In recent articles there has been great concern expressed about the development of a technological underclass that has it roots in the urban communities of our great cities. As we work with students, parents, and teachers in New York City and other urban and rural cities, the basis for this concern is clear.
We are exploring the issue of how best to introduce communities to new and exciting technologies in education. Excitement is developing around the technology and the ability that it has to empower, reform, and provide economic development in these areas that have been under served. There is an African saying:
"It takes the whole village to educate the child"
CUYT's concern is to educate the whole village (through the use of technology) so that they are prepared to educate that child.
