"CURRICULUM"  


The curriculum focuses on developing the students reading and writing ability through the use of computer softwares. The program consist of three themes: Instrinsic motivation, Language experience Approach(L.E.A), and student published works. The technology component combines computer managed instruction materials and student learning environments.  

GOALS
Our goal is to enhance and improve students reading and writing using computer and video technology. Students will create signs, posters, articles, graphics, and other materials that demonstrate their ability to understand the reading concept and material that they will be presented with during the program. The technology component will support the reading and writing activities of the tutors and mentors during the program. We will create electronic journals, stories, reviews of reading materials, and create word banks, using a series of reading and writing software. We are reviewing Print shop, The writing Center and Kids works 2 and the main software work environment and will include Computer Curriculum Corporation (CCC) and other computer assisted instruction software. We will also use the World Wide Web and it's vast resources to create student home pages, locate kid based web sites and set-up e-mail accounts. We will ask that the computers and CCC be used each day of the program to insure that the students have quality time using the resources of the software.
