DATE PLANNED ACTIVITY
Friday, July 13 Participants will meet at JFK airport at 2:00pm sharp in the
California Lounge located between gate 5 and 6. It can be found down the hall
from where we check in. We will then depart for Johannesburg at 5:55pm.
Saturday, July 14 Arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa at 1:40 p.m. and check in
at the Holiday Inn Express (East Gate)
Meet with Host.
Sunday, July 15 Go to Soweto and visit the Township and market.
Church is optional.
Monday, July 16 Agency and township visits.
Tuesday, July 17 Depart for Pretoria
Wednesday, July 18, Meeting with University of South Africa (UNISA) faculty.
Township visits
Thursday, July 19 Museum and Township visits
Friday, July 20 Meet with UNISA in the morning
Department for Ghana, check into Hotel De Joko in Accra
*Saturday, July 21 Visits to museums, Dubois Center and agencies
Sunday, July 22 Church (optional)
Meeting at the School of Social Work, Depart for Kumasi
Monday, July 23 Tour of cultural center and museums in Kumasi.
Return to Accra
*Tuesday, July 24 Agency visits. Evening meeting with the GASOW
Wednesday, July 25 All-day conference "Building Bridges in Social Work
practice and Education: The African and American Experience"
Thursday, July 26 All-day trip to Slave Castles, Capecoast, Elmina
Friday, July 27 Visit to agencies, Departure to Johannesburg for return trip to
the United States
*Saturday, July 28 Visit to market and Township
Deprogramming meeting at airport
Leave for the United States
Sunday, July 29 Arrive in JFK in New York
*Catherine Lawrence will leave for Durban on July 21st
*Catherine will depart for Capetown on July 24th
*Catherine will depart for JFK from Johannesburg on July 28th
