The 1999 program co-chairs, Cynthia Hudley and Stafford Hood, really need your help right now!!  There are almost no registered reviewers for our SIG to review submissions for the 1999 program.

As you know, the quality of the program is entirely dependent upon the quality of the reviewers.  Please take a moment right now to register as a reviewer for our SIG on the
AERA webpage
after June 15th.

Remember that our SIG will be accepting proposal submissions online at the site as well.  We encourage you to try it out!  We appreciate your help and look forward to an outstanding program in Montreal.

*NOTE: The more members we have in our SIG and as members of AERA means the more slots we can receive on the AERA program. So please register! You can obtain forms for registration by calling or sending an e-mail message to the secretary-treasurer. The RFBE-SIG has an active listserv for our members that includes job postings, announcements for grants applications, and serves as a community forum for our group's activist research and teaching agenda for African American students. The listserv is: and it is coordinated by Tim Eatman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, e-mail: You can subscribe to the listserv by following the command: subscribe rfbe_grad Throughout the 1998-99 year we will update this home page for the SIG. We currently have a posting of the RFBE By-laws.

We would like to acknowledge the invaluable assistance of Dr. Joseph Bowman and the staff at the Center for Urban Youth and Technology at SUNY Albany who helped prepare this website  for the SIG. Please see the links to the AERA home page and other connections to African American sources on the Web as well.
