African Dancer and Drumming
The Umoja African Dance and Drumming Comapanywas founded 25 years ago by Danny Wilson and Sue Wilson Dean, both natives of Schenectady. Mr. Danny Wilson, a master drummer, was the Musical Director and Sue Wilson Dean, who had studied with the Burundi African Dance Troupe, was the Dance Instructor. The Umoja African Dance and Drumming Company grew out of the Hamilton Hill "Drop In Arts" Center to become a premiere Dance Company in the Capito District. The program has educated many children in the Hamilton Hill Community about African traditions through dance and music.
