Born and raised in New York City, Greg
Henderson began playing trumpet at the age of 12
in public school. Coming from a musical family, he was surrounded
by music, dance and theatre at an early age. Greg turned professional
after his studies at the City University of New York. He played with
the "Frank Nieves Orchestra".
Greg has played with a number of R&B/Soul group i.e: the Jackson
Five, Freida Payne, the Ohio Players. Greg later formed
his own R&B funk band named "Obsidian"
which performed throughout New York at concerts and clubs. In the
Early 1990, Greg formed the
Street Jazz Ensemble
that combined elements of Jazz, R&B, Latin and Funk. The uniqueness
and appeal of the Street Jazz Ensemble is the original music composed by
the band leader Greg Henderson. In 1994, Greg produced and released
his first CD entitled "Songs from the Street".
The CD received extensive airtime on radio stations throughout New York
State. Greg has again been focusing his time on writing and recording
new music that he anticipates presenting at upcoming forums and in a new
