Sample Budget Justification Page

 

Personnel:

Dr. James Johnson will serve as the Principal Investigator (12.5% effort academic year, 66.7% effort summer) on the project.  He will participate in all phases of the project.  He will be particularly responsible for directing the analyses examining the impact of precipitating factors on adult household and family structure, and health related behaviors.  Dr. Johnson will prepare research reports and journal articles for publication, and will supervise the University at Albany graduate research assistant.  He will be responsible for preparing the final report for the project.

 

Dr Janet Jones will serve as the Co-PI on the project (15% effort).  She will participate in all phases of the project.  Dr Jones will be primarily responsible for creating the measures of household and family structure from the data set to be used.  In addition, Dr. Jones will also play a role in planning the analyses examining network effects on involvement in risky health behavior.    She will assist the PI in preparing research reports and project publications, and will also supervise the graduate research assistant. 

 

TBN, will serve as the statistical programmer (100%) on the project.  The project requires that this person have considerable experience programming Splus and R will be responsible for program development and will conduct much of the analysis.

 

One unnamed graduate research assistant (50% effort) will be used during the academic year and half-time during the summer months.  Support for the graduate assistant includes tuition during the academic year.  The graduate research assistant will be responsible for data and library searches, file construction, data cleaning, and day to day aspects of data analysis.

 

Consultant:

Dr. James Joyce (Michigan State University) will serve as consultant to the project in all years of the project.  Dr. Joyce has significant expertise in xxxxxxx analysis and methods.  He will help guide the collection and construction of the data sets and will assist in the construction of Wave 1 and wave 2 modelling process.  He is budgeted for 10 days at $450/day for the project.

 

Supplies:

One PC ($2,000) and a printer ($1000) are requested.  The computers (Dell Intel® Xeon(tm) dual processors, 1GB,DDR266 SDRAM Memory) will supplement the PI¡¯s our existing PCs and will be used for developing analyses.  The Pc will be used for experimentation and development of the methods for analysis, production of graphics etc.  In addition $500 is requested for miscellaneous office supplies (paper, floppy disks, cartridges).

 

Travel:

 One trip is requested for the PI ($1,000) to attend a national meeting to present project related results.

 

Other Expenses:

 This category includes support for tuition ($6912) for one graduate student for the academic year. In addition a total of $2,000 is requested in computer services to be provided by the University at Albany.
