Meet CSDA Staff and Faculty Associates
The Director of CSDA is Richard Alba, Distinguished Professor of Sociology. Nancy Denton, Associate Professor of Sociology, is CSDA's Associate Director. The Center provides administrative and support services to researchers through four core units:
Glenn Deane, Associate Professor of Sociology, directs the Public Infrastructure Core. Tim Gage, Professor of Anthropology and Hui-Shien Tsao, directs the Computing & Data Services Core.
CSDA Researchers
CSDA's faculty researchers come from the departments of Sociology, Criminal Justice, Economics, Anthropology, Geography & Planning, Social Welfare, Epidemiology, Biology, Educational Administration and Policy Studies, Health Policy, Management & Behavior, History, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Psychology, and Public Administration. Most of the researchers work in one or two of four overlapping and reinforcing signature themes: Population Composition and Redistribution; Family and Household Dynamics; Status of Children and Adolescents; and Health, Morbidity, and Mortality.
Related University Research Units
CSDA works closely with other University research entitities, including the Lewis Mumford Center for Comparative Urban and Regional Research, Hindelang Criminal Justice Research Center, the Ringel Institute of Gerontology, the Center for Health Workforce Studies, and the Center for Minority Health in the School of Public Health. Partnerships with two new units are key to future collaborations: the Prevention Research Center in the School of Public Health and the Institute for Watershed Studies based in the Department of Biology. Many population researchers associated with CSDA also have appointments or affiliations with these and other research units.
