Network of Choice and Opportunity
"In"Tern and Learn
Catholic Charities Disabilities Services, Living Resources and Wildwood Programs
have joined efforts as the Network of Choice and Opportunity. Together they
are offering a unique opportunity for students to earn competitive wages while
gaining experience in the field of developmental disabilities and satisfying
the requirements of the Community and Public Service Program (CPSP).
The NCO provides residential, community and school-based services to children
and adults living with developmental disabilities. This program offers University
at Albany students a widespread understanding of the field of developmental
disabilities by working with members of different populations. The organizations
are offering the opportunity for a student to be paid to work for 20 hours
per week and to complete 5 to 8.5 CPSP hours at one of the other NCO organizations.
In other words, while students are being paid to work at one Organization for 20
hours each week, they can also be completing their CPSP hours in RSSW 290
(100 hours) or RSSW 291 (60 hours) at another of the cooperating organizations.
The NCO offers many schedules and shifts to choose from such as daytime hours
in a school setting, afternoon/evening hours in a residential setting or flexible
afternoon hours in community based settings. The NCO has several locations
throughout the Capital Region and offers paid training, competitive wages
and practical experience. A valid driver's license is required for most positions;
however, some programs are located on bus lines.
