Holding Our Own is the women's foundation of the Capital Region. It's mission is to fund programs for women and girls that advance social change. HOO has issued nearly one-half million dollars in grants and loans since its founding in 1982. There are three different opportunities for community service students:

Women in Philanthropy: students will assist in organizing donor education seminars, compiling research on philanthropies, providing research and support on funding boards for youth

Volunteer Management: students will assist in creating public relations materials, volunteer recruitment materials, volunteer scheduling, orientation and ongoing education.

Special Events: students will assist in planning, promoting and implementing fundraising and educational events such as Women's Art Show and Auction, Women's Music Festival.

In all programs CPSP students will participate in staff meetings, prepare reports and assist in general office tasks.

These experiences are appropriate for students majoring in communication, journalism, social work, business, women's studies, Africana, Latin/Caribbean studies and English
