PROJECT STRIVE

Multi-service child and family services Organization for school aged children and their families. The main program center is on Ontario between Central and Washington Avenues in Albany. Program centers are also located at the Watervliet Civic Center in Watervliet and the Westmere Elementary School in Guilderland which is close to the main UAlbany campus.

Student volunteers will learn child care management techniques; crisis intervention strategies; and, basic group work concepts. Creative arts assistants are needed in dramatics, music and art. Orientation, training and supervision are provided. Schedule is limited to 3 - 7 pm Monday - Friday for the Albany and Watervliet sites, and 2 - 5 pm for the Guilderland site. There is a summer day program from 9:45 - 2:45 Monday through Friday. This offers student volunteers a positive working experience tutoring special needs students, following behavioral modification systems with childrend who are at risk for foster care.
