CAREERLINKS: Creating Opportunities That Last
Students are invited to work in this community-based employment program that
serves adults with limited/sporadic work histories. They wil assist case managers
and on-site job developers to gather resources, completing reference checks
and learning about community needs. Most people live in the Arbor Hill, West
Hill and South End communities of Albany. Through assessments, job readiness
workshops, internships, job placement and intensive follow-up, women and men
are given the opportunity and encouragement to obtain on-the-job training,
find and maintain employment and ultimately advance beyond entry-level positions.
Students will learn to interact with divese populations, gain experience in
human resources, interviewing and assessment skils and educational group work.
This is a particularly good placement for students interested in social welfare,
not-for-profit management and human resources.
