ALBANY INDEPENDENT LIVING TRAINING PROGRAM (ILTP)
Professional Development Program of Rockefeller College, University at Albany
Albany ILTP is a multi-service program developed to help those who are working to prepare adolescents who are in foster care to live independently. ILTP provides staff from local school districts and voluntary child care organizations with education and training on developing independent learning skills. There is also a youth leadership program for adolescents living in or recently coming out of foster care.
The CPSP student(s) will work with Education Specialists in two areas:
1)training and technical assistance for foster care providers, and
2)youth leadership--youth voice in fostercare.
CPSP students will do research and prepare resources for training curricula on issues in child welfare and foster care. They will also work with staff to coordinate two regional youth leadership advisory groups. This experience is appropriate for students whose interests are social work, sociology, public affairs and education.
