ALTAMONT PROGRAM, THE
The program offers services of quality treatment, supportive housing and education and employment training to people in recovery who are involved with the criminal justice system through probation, parole and alternative to incarceration sentencing.
Student volunteers will learn about the value of treatment as a solution
to addiction; the value of the Altamont Program's "three-legged stool" (treatment,
housing, employment) in cutting recidivism; helping with GED preparation;
job and life skills curriculum and methods.
The student will work under the supervision of Charles Gallagher, director of the Albany City School District Adult Learning satellite and Sister Francine Dempsey, job skills and life skills instructor.
