Intimate Partner Abuse And Stalking

The University at Albany is committed to providing a campus environment that is free of violence, and threats of violence, in all forms. Intimate partner abuse, stalking, and sexual assault are related phenomena and can often occur in the same relationship. However, there are characteristics that uniquely differentiate intimate partner abuse (dating abuse, relationship violence) and stalking from sexual assault. Relationship abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, nationality, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion. This section provides information about these two forms of relationship abuse and the University’s response to students who have been impacted by intimate partner abuse and stalking.
