Dr. Gallo joined the Counseling Psychology Program in 2009 as the Director of Master’s Training. Prior to joining the faculty, he worked for five years on the clinical staff of the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Program at the Stratton VA Medical Center. During his time at the Stratton VA Medical Center, he served as Clinical Chair of the Behavioral Emergency Leadership Team and developed and implemented the Education Outreach Initiative (EOI). The EOI connected the Stratton VA to local university and college counseling centers to provide an avenue of referral for student veterans and active duty military personnel. It also worked with the local colleges by assisting in the creation of peer support networks on campus for veterans and military personnel. During his time with the PTSD Program at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Dr. Gallo received the Certificate of Recognition by the Lewis Henry Morgan Institute for advancing public awareness and understanding of veterans’ needs, the Unsung Heroes and Heroines National Public Service Award, and the Federal Executive Association: Northeastern New York, Distinguished Federal Government Service Team Award. Dr. Gallo has clinical and research interests in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, attachment theory, organizational dynamics, and social support.
