Professional Interests

Dr. Cardom’s professional interests include research and practice in the areas of multiculturalism and LGBTQ issues.  Clinically, he enjoys working with students who are exploring aspects of their identity, experiences of trauma, and internalized messages about their worth or value. 

Approach to Therapy

Dr. Cardom’s counseling style is based on honoring the goals of the student and making measured changes over time to reach these goals as a team.  He integrates several styles of therapy to help students reach their goals, including cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and multicultural frameworks.  He also enjoys helping students identify areas in which they hope to build skills to cope with difficulties in life.

Approach to Wellness

Dr. Cardom enjoys hiking, traveling, and music.  He especially enjoys karaoke.  He is also an advocate of sleep hygiene as a way to stay physically and mentally well.
