Advisement and Mandatory Meetings

What to Do if You Missed Advanced Registration Planning Appointments

Advanced registration planning appointments were held during the week of October 12th, and all classes are currently full. If you are a communication major or minor and you missed the appointments, please stop by the Department of Communication (SS 351) to add your name to our wait-list. This list is only for students who missed advanced registration and have received NO permission numbers for spring 2010. Please note that we cannot guarantee a spot in one of our classes, but we will do our best to accommodate all students.

Advanced Registration Planning Appointments

It will soon be time to sign up for registration planning appointments for spring 2010! Advanced registration will take place during the week of October 12th. Sign up sheets will go up the week of September 7th. During our registration planning appointments you will obtain permisson numbers for up to two Communication classes. You MUST sign up for a registration planning appointment on the appropriate sign-up sheets outside SS 351 in order to receive permission numbers for Communication courses. Permission numbers are released on a first-come/first-served basis until each course is closed, so the earlier you sign up the better.

Mandatory Meeting for New Majors - Wednesday, September 23rd

All students admitted to the communication major for fall 2009 are expected to attend. You must have received confirmation by email you have been admitted to the major before you can attend this meeting. At this meeting you will select an advisor, learn how to register for communication courses (be sure to sign up for your advising appointment!), learn about the internship program for majors, and learn about special programs and other useful information. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the major. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 5:45-7:00 pm in one of the LCs (still TBD). If you cannot make this meeting, you should contact Debbie in the Communication Department office to schedule a makeup meeting.

INTENDED MAJORS AND TRANSFER STUDENTS SHOULD NOT ATTEND. See you there!

General Announcements

Winter Commencement - December 6th, 2009

University-wide winter commencement will be held on Sunday, December 6th at 1:00 p.m. in the SEFCU Arena. The ceremony will include both summer and fall 2009 Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral candidates. The duration of the ceremony is approximately 2 hours.

Department of Communication Commencement - May 16th, 2009

In honor of our graduating Master's and undergraduate students, the faculty members of the Department of Communicaton will hold a departmental commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16th, 2009. It will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the SEFCU Arena (formerly the Recreation and Convocation Center). A reception beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room in the SEFCU Arena will precede this event.

This event is open to the public and no tickets are needed for admission. Congratulations to our 2009 graduates!
