Interested in majoring in Communication?

We are now accepting applications for Fall 2016 admission to the Communication major. To be considered, a student must take Com 100 and an approved logic/statistics class. Admission to the major requires a minimum of a C- in the two required entry courses. All student with an average of B or better are guaranteed acceptance in the semester they apply. Students need to submit the application before they leave campus for summer break. Details here.

 

 

 

 

Professor/student
publish paper

Assistant Professor Nicolas Bencherki and MA student James P. Snack recently published a paper in Management Communication Quarterly where they criticize the way organizational communication researchers tend to emphasize the interpretations “members” make of their organization.

Commencement '16

The Department of Communication Recognition Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 12:30 p.m. at SEFCU Arena. Fall 2015 and Summer 2016 COM graduates who wish to participate should contact the COM office at 518-442-4871. Our featured speaker is COM alum Chris Brennan '88, senior vice president of retail development for the NBA. A photo gallery from the 2015 ceremony can be found on our Facebook page.


Faculty receive awards

Assistant Professor Alyssa Morey was selected for the Dr. Nuala McGann Drescher Leave Program award for the Fall 2016 semester.

Assistant Professor Archana Krishnan was named an mHealth Scholar for the 2016 UCLA mHealth Training Institute (mHTI) to be held at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from August 8-12, 2016.

Fall 2016 advisement

Advisement will be held in early March prior to the start of Summer/Fall '16 registration on March 21, which begins after spring break. COM majors and minors will be contacted via email to sign up for advisement. When the schedules are available we will post them online on our Forms / Schedules page.
