  • Political Communication: the interrelationship between democratic government, elections, citizens, and media; transformation of political campaigns in changing media environments; interpersonal and online political talk and its social and individual effects
  • Communication Technology and Democracy: how communication technology (old and new) are used in democratic practices
  • Communication and the Public Sphere: the social forces that give rise to, alter, dissolve boundaries between public and private spheres
  • Public Opinion: theoretical conceptions (historical and contemporary) of public opinion; factors contributing to public opinion; ways and problems of measurement
  • Communication and the Internet: the Internet as research tool and medium for communication to individuals, groups, and mass audiences
