Eligibility

The following students are eligible to participate in spring commencement:

1. All candidates who’ve filed a degree application online on MyUAlbany for May 2008.
   
   Undergrad degree applications deadline: February 17
   Graduate degree applications deadline: March 31
   
   Please note that if you do not file a degree application by the stated deadlines, the University cannot guarantee that your name will be listed in the program.
   
   
2. All students who received degrees in August or December of 2007.
   These student’s names will not be included in the program as they were listed in the Winter 2007 program. They will also not be included in the mailing list to receive information. They should check this site frequently for updated commencement information.
   
   
3. Students who are 1 or 2 classes short and can demonstrate via transcript that they will complete their degree requirements and graduate in August 2008 may participate should they wish. Students graduating in August 2008 need only purchase regalia to participate. Their name will not appear in the program and they will not be included in the mailing list to receive information. They should check this site frequently for updated commencement information.

The academic records of undergraduate students who have applied for spring commencement will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office. Those candidates whose cumulative records and current courses do not appear to meet all requirements for the degree will be notified as quickly as possible to permit correction before Commencement. Those who do meet the requirements for the degree will not receive notification.

Degrees are awarded after final clearance, pending the satisfactory completion of the final term of study and/or fulfillment of all academic requirements. Candidates who fulfill all requirements for the degree can expect to receive their diplomas and final transcripts through the mail by early July. Candidates who have failed to complete all academic requirements by May or who have other matters requiring resolution will be notified in June. Undergraduates who have any unresolved grades (ex: incompletes) will not be cleared for the degree.

Doctoral degree candidates must notify the Office of Graduate Studies of their intent to participate in the ceremonies by emailing Joanne Baronner at jbaronner@uamail.albany.edu by April 21.
