2018 Commencement Weekend
May 18, 19, & 20, 2018

Schedule of Events

Detailed information, and a schedule of events, will be available on this website in the coming months.

Visiting Campus

Please visit the University at Albany's visitor website for driving and mass transit directions along with lodging and dining options. Additional interactive maps are also available.

Guests are permitted to park in campus parking lots without a UAlbany parking decal during Commencement Weekend. However, please follow all event and/or parking signage and directions from University Police Officers and event parking staff. Vehicles must be parked in a valid parking spot; vehicles parked illegally, such as cars in a handicap parking spot without a valid government-issued handicap parking decal/plate displayed, parking in fire/travel lanes, on sidewalks/grass, or in any areas that are not valid parking spots pose a health and safety concern and such cars will be ticketed and/or towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.

Please click the “Graduate Info” tab or the “Undergraduate Info” tab on the left navigation bar for specific parking information for each ceremony.
Guest Tickets

Due to venue size, some ceremonies require guest tickets ALL non-graduates who are guests (including any current students) in attendance, and these tickets need to be secured ahead of time directly by the graduating student for their guest(s). Please check with your graduating student on whether or not you’ll need a ticket for their particular ceremony.

Do children need tickets?
Children, typically under 2 years old, who will be sitting on a lap do not require a ticket.  Children who will be sitting in a seat do require their own ticket.

Balloons are NOT permitted inside any of the indoor venues due to their fire systems.

The University at Albany offers the services of a professional photographer at all ceremonies. Students will be professionally photographed by Island Photography at the different ceremonies. The photographer will e-mail proofs to the students’ email address or mail to permanent address, and families will have the option to purchase prints if they wish. For more information and access to the proofs, please contact Island Photo directly.

Flowers will be available for purchase at the University-Wide Ceremonies.

The University Bookstore will have a souvenir table at each venue location on Friday through Sunday, offering an opportunity to purchase UAlbany gear and memorabilia.  The University Bookstore, located inside the campus center, will also be open on Commencement Weekend.

Official Commencement Programs will be distributed upon entry at the two university-wide ceremony venues. Only eligible degree candidates who have met their degree application deadline will be listed in the program, not those who simply participate in the ceremonies.
Students who have not satisfied degree requirements, or students who have not had their degree application approved by the Registrar's Office, by the stated degree deadlines, will NOT be listed in the program.
The University will be happy to mail a Commencement Program to those who are listed but who are unable to attend the Ceremony.
