I. LGBTQ - Lavender Graduation
Ceremony & reception honoring the achievements of
graduating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally students. Bachelor's, Master's
and Doctoral Candidates will be honored.
Friday, May 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. / Doors open at noon.
Location: Campus Center Ballroom
Duration: 1.5 hours with reception to follow

II. The University-Wide Graduate Ceremony
Ceremony to formally confer Master's, Certificate & Doctoral degrees.
Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
Location: Indoors at the SEFCU
Tickets are NOT required for guests. Duration: approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
Students will be recognized individually as they each cross the stage to receive a certificate of
participation. Students should report by 8:15 a.m. to the gym in the Physical Education building for
assembly.
III. Family Picnic
Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Dutch Quad Commons
Open to all graduates, families and friends. Various foods and beverages will be served, including
vegetarian options. The picnic will be held rain or shine. There is no charge for the picnic. Sponsored
by U.A.S., Chartwells, the Alumni Association and University Development.
IV. Commencement Mass
Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Location: Campus Center Assembly Hall
V. Torch Night & Fireworks Display
Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.
Location: Academic Podium
This moving ceremony invites guests to witness the transition from student to alumni and a passing
of the torch of knowledge as seniors are symbolically welcomed into the Alumni Association.
VI. The University-Wide Undergraduate Ceremony
Ceremony to formally confer all Bachelor's degrees.
Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
Location: The Entry Plaza Lawn at the top of Collins Circle
Tickets are Not required for guests. Duration is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes
Due to the size of the graduating class, individual student names will not be read, nor will candidates cross the
stage. Students will be recognized however in groups by school or college. This ceremony will occur
outdoors Rain or Shine! Students should report for assembly at 9:00 a.m. to the tents in Collins Circle.
VII. Individual Recognition Events
In addition to the two University-Wide Ceremonies, Individual Recognition Events (hosted by the candidate's School, College, or Department) will be held throughout the weekend. A complete list of events, for both Undergraduates and Graduates can be found by following the links above. Each ceremony has its own unique guest policy and/or requirements to participate. Please use the contact information for each for further details. Students should be on the lookout for further information from their department as the semester progresses.
* Official diplomas and final transcripts will be mailed to graduates after final grades are recorded, approximately 6-8 weeks after commencement. No diplomas will be issued over the weekend.
