Campus Cleanup Day
Campus Cleanup Day 2017 - Tuesday, April 25th (Rain Date Thursday April 27th)
The onset of spring always brings a sense of excitement to our UAlbany campuses as we look forward to the coming of warm weather, and what has become one of our most anticipated community traditions: Spring Cleanup Day. We are delighted to invite you to join us for the University's 21st Annual Campus Clean-up Day. Beginning with fewer than 100 participants in 1997, we now routinely exceed 500 volunteers. Cleanuup Day is a time when faculty, students, staff and administrators work side by side to prepare the campuses for Commencement Weekend and other signature events that occur during the late spring and summer. If you have not been a part of this effort previously, you will be amazed at the transformation the campuses undergo in a single day with 500 of us pitching in to give our Grounds Department a helping hand. What is more, the spirit of camaraderie and the sense of UAlbany pride are palpable.
We are once again seeking the participation of 500 or more volunteers for one full day.
The work will consist of gardening and trash pickup. If you are interested in 'light duty', please consider volunteering to be a site supervisor. We will provide a check in table for volunteers and have tools and supplies for you to provide to your site workers. You will also check student volunteers in and out if they would like to register for community service hours for the day.
Morning shift is 9:00am until 12:00 noon.
Lunch will be from 12:00 to 1:00pm
Lunch is provided by UAS, and will be served in the Campus Center Ballroom Uptown, and the cafeterias of the Downtown and East Campuses. The Uptown Campus will offer both kosher and gluten-free options. Downtown volunteers receive a coupon to go through the Husted Cafe line to choose a sandwich or soup/salad combo. East Campus volunteers may elect a gluten-free meal, but that kitchen is not equipped to provide Kosher meals.
Afternoon shift will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
If you are unable to offer a full day from your busy schedule, please consider joining us for even an hour. Work opportunities are available at all of our campuses.
If you decide to work all day, you can volunteer for a different work areas in the morning and afternoon. Please go to the signup tab on this page to register for your preferences.
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for outside work and bring a hat and sunscreen. Work gloves and tools will be provided.
