Campus Cleanup Day

Campus Cleanup Day 2013 - Tuesday, April 30, 2013 (Rain Date Thursday, May 2nd)

The onset of spring always brings a sense of excitement to our UAlbany campuses as we look forward to the coming of warm weather, and what has become one of our most anticipated community traditions:  Spring Clean-Up Day.  We are delighted to invite you to join us for the University's Seventeenth Annual Campus Clean-up Day. Beginning with fewer than 100 participants in 1997, we now routinely exceed 500 volunteers.  Clean-Up Day is a time when faculty, students, staff and administrators work side by side to prepare the campuses for Commencement Weekend and other signature events that occur during the late spring and summer.  If you have not been a part of this effort previously, you will be amazed at the transformation the campuses undergo in a single day with 500 of us pitching in to give our Grounds Department a helping hand.  What is more, the spirit of camaraderie and the sense of UAlbany pride are palpable.

We are once again seeking the participation of 500 or more volunteers for one full day.

Morning shift is 9:00am until 12:00 noon

Lunch will be from 12:00 to 1:00pm

Lunch is provided by UAS, and will be served in the Campus Center Ballroom Uptown, and the cafeterias of the Downtown and East Campuses.

Afternoon shift will run from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

If you are unable to offer a full day from your busy schedule, please consider joining us for part of the day.  Work opportunities are available at all of our campuses.

If you decide to work all day, you can volunteer for a different work areas in the morning and afternoon.  Please go to the signup tab on this page to register for your preferences.  After registering, you will receive a confirming e-mail and code.  The code can be used to revisit the site to modify your assignments if needed.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for outside work and bring a hat and sunscreen.  Work gloves and tools will be provided.

New this Year!

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt as a thank you gift.

Site supervisors needed - if you would like to request a 'light duty' assignment, we need you to be a work site supervisor - you will make sure your group has adequate planting materials and supplies.

We will be having a contest for the best student beautification project ideas - there will be two categories, Dorm Quad and Student Group.  The Cleanup Team will review applications that are submitted by April 15th.  The winning projects will be supplied with the materials to complete their projects on Cleanup Day and the groups will receive a barbeque or pizza party.  Please see the Photo page for pictures of the Quad areas that are in need of beautification.
