Some photos from University at Albany, SUNY, Classics Department field work at a Bronze Age site at Sotira, Cyprus in Summer 2001.

(These are large image files and so will load slowly without a fast Internet connection. Also, they are in raw scanned form, not yet neatened for display. This is a temporary page set which will be replaced by refined and more thorough material later.)

The site, which is on the west side of the village of Sotira in central-south Cyprus. The late Neolithic site of Sotira-Teppes is atop the hill in the background. The photo is taken looking approximately southwest. (Sotira is about 15km west-northwest of Limassol.)

Some members of the team, on the porch of the old school building used as headquarters. The main road from the east into Sotira is on the other side of the fence in the background, and beyond that can be seen a little of the east edge of the village, in the bright Cypriot summer midday sunlight. The photo is taken looking west.
