Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention Initiative

Evaluation & Research

The Demonstration Initiative is designed to support 12 grantees to conduct a one-year community assessment of their response to domestic violence; half of the initial grantees will be awarded two subsequent years of funding in order to implement a Homicide Prevention project based on a danger assessment tool developed by Dr. Jacqueline Campbell. CHSR is serving as the research partner to Westchester County in Phase I. The assessment involves the identification of strengths and weaknesses in the community’s response to domestic violence, as well as the collection of a predetermined set of baseline data. The assessment is designed to inform any future use of the Jacquelyn Campbell Danger Assessment Tool and subsequent implementation of the Maryland Lethality Assessment Program or the Greater Newburyport High Risk Team, two models designed to prevent domestic violence homicides and serious injuries.
