Evaluation of the New York State Collocation Demonstration Project
A joint initiative from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Service (OASAS) and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), the New York State Collocation Demonstration Project was designed to address substance abuse problems among families investigated for child maltreatment. Substance abuse specialists were placed at child welfare offices in eight upstate New York counties to improve screening, assessment, and referral procedures

CHSR designed a project database to assist program sites and state staff to monitor performance and identify problems early on. The database tracked families' progress over time. In addition, the database allowed project staff to obtain reports on caseload and assessment results within a given period.
