New York State Commission for the Blind

The New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) awarded The Center for Human Services Research (CHSR) a contract to conduct a secondary analysis of their case management system.

The Center for Human Services Research (CHSR) was awarded a contract to conduct a secondary analysis of the New York State Commission for the Blind's case management system. The mission of the New York State Commission for the Blind is to enhance employability, to maximize independence and to assist in the development of the capacities and strengths of people who are legally blind.

Evaluation & Research

CHSR will be evaluating how services rendered by the NYSCB related to successful case closure for those receiving assistance. There will be two populations of focus in the analysis, youth with disabilities and students with disabilities.

  • Pro Se support
  • Full legal services

The analysis will consider their relative impacts on both legal outcomes, such as custody decisions or child support amounts, and non-legal outcomes such as subsequent employment and satisfaction with the legal process.
