X-ray Powder Diffractometer

X-ray Powder Diffractometer

The Department of Chemistry team led by E. V. Dikarev has been awarded a $274,160 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This award will be used to acquire an X-ray powder diffractometer to build a state-of-the-art X-ray diffraction facility for research and teaching. This facility will enable us to employ the most modern research practices and to support synthetic chemistry programs of the participating team members, including Profs. E. V. Dikarev, M. A. Petrukhina, E. Block, UAlbany, and M. Hagerman, Union College, as well as other faculty from our Department. This new diffractometer will further enhance our ability to meet one of the University major objectives - teaching students to employ modern analytical instrumentation.
