Instructional Support Instrumentation Specialst

The Department of Chemistry at the University at Albany is seeking to fill a professional staff vacancy beginning January 2008. This is a 12-month calendar year position. Primary duties include maintenance, diagnosis of problems, repair and management of chemistry instructional laboratory instrumentation and equipment used by 1,700 students a year. In addition, this position manages the Department’s NMR instructional instruments among other Department-wide instruction and research instrumentation. Other duties include instrument usage training, building facilities management, maintenance of equipment inventory, and departmental committee service.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and a minimum of 3 years professional experience are required. An advanced degree with experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of electronics, proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to communicate effectively with vendor technicians, faculty, and students is required.

Adjunct Instructor Part-time – General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University at Albany is seeking to fill two part-time adjunct positions for the Fall 2008 term. Classes begin August 25, 2008.

Position Descriptions

1) One adjunct position teaching General Chemistry I or II lecture for the Fall 2008 semester. Salary to be determined.

2) One position teaching Organic Chemistry I lecture for Fall 2008 semester. Salary to be determined.

Qualifications

A PhD in Chemistry is required with some teaching experience preferred.
