In January of 2011, Dr. Strogatz became Director of the Center for Rural Community Health within Basset Research Institute of Cooperstown, New York. He continues to serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health at the University at Albany. Dr. Strogatz’s primary area of research is the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease, including factors associated with cause, prevention and management of disease. Within this area of research, he has specific interests in understanding and addressing the basis for socioeconomic, racial and ethnic differences in cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. In his current position, a primary research focus will be the evaluation of community-based efforts to promote cardiovascular health through environmental changes that support physical activity, healthy diet and access to preventive health care.
