Gender and Feminist Studies Section of the Latin American Studies Association
Gender Award

For the forth and consecutive time the Gender And Feminist Section of  The Latin American Studies Association (LASA)
is calling for papers  to be selected for the Elsa Chaney's Award 2003.

The purpose of the Elsa Chaney's Award is to promote, stimulate and contribute to the diffusion of academic studies on women
and gender in Latin America and the Caribbean. This award has taken, in every period, a name of a scholar which contribution
has been very important for the development of women and gender research of Latin America. In 2000, after the unfortunate loss of Elsa
Chaney, the Section decided that the academic award will take, permanently,  the name of this pioneer gender studies scholar.

For the  2003 call for papers the Section has decided to give priority to Junior scholars ( no more than five years since the higher
academic degree was  obtained) that have none or few publications.  Three originals-non published papers will be selected and published
by  a Committee chaired by Sara Poggio.  There will be a monetary reward for papers selected for first and second prizes
and an honor mention for the third.
