Scholarship Information

• American Library Association Scholarships
  Scholarship resources available for students pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies from an ALA accredited program, or for a master's degree in school library media program.
• American Library Association Government Documents Round Table Awards and Scholarships
  The David Rozkuszka Scholarship provides financial assistance to an individual who is currently working with government documents in a library and is trying to complete a masters degree in library science.
• Ann Gibson Scholarship (New York Library Association)
  This scholarship is a $1,000 award given annually by the Youth Services Section of the New York Library Association.
• Beta Phi Mu Scholarships and Fellowships
  Five scholarships and the Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship are awarded annually by this honor society for librarians.
• Lake Placid Educational Foundation/NYLA - Dewey Scholarship
  The NYLA-Dewey Scholarship provides financial assistance for a student to pursue a master’s degree in library science at an ALA-accredited library school in New York.

Student Organizations

• Student Chapter of the American Library Association/New York Library Association (SCALA/NYLA)
  A student-run organization that aims to develop professional skills and relationships in the library field, raise issues that affect librarianship, and supports career development, volunteerism, and social activities.
• Student Chapter of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIST)
  This organization promotes the professional and academic growth of students who are interested in the field of information science and technology.
• Information Studies Student Association
  A student-run program for IST master’s degree students and undergraduates; the website keeps track of current events, meetings and documents.
• Society of American Archivists Student Chapter
• Special Libraries Association Student Grooup
  A student organization dedicated to promoting the professional needs of special libraries or information centers in large corporations, government agencies, health institutions, print and electronic media organizations, law firms, not-for-profit organizations, and college campuses.
• UAlbany Graduate Students Organization (GSO)
  This student-run group creates programs designed to facilitate and enhance the academic and extracurricular experience of graduate students at the University at Albany.

  The University at Albany's student services web site which provides access to students’ academic records, financial aid and billing information, holds, personal information, and registration for classes.

  This resource is a service of the University libraries, and includes links to Information and Library Science, Children's Literature/School Library Media, and Database guides.
• Information Studies Listservs
  Subscription information to the main email communication tools of the Information Studies Department, for all students, for just undergraduates, for job postings, and for alumni.
• UAlbany Schedule of Classes
  A search tool to find UAlbany classes by semester, using a number of different criteria.
• Web Course Tools (WebCT)
  WebCT is an online course management system used in conjunction with class lectures or online courses. Faculty and students use WebCT for online assessment, grade posting, discussion boards, course e-mail, interactive chat, lecture notes and slides.
