Graduates of the University at Albany Master’s program in Information Science (MSIS):

The instructions and forms you need to apply for graduate study at the University at Albany are available at: http://www.albany.edu/graduate/forms.shtml#download

For the MSIS degree application you need to submit:

  • Application form and $75.00 application fee
  • Statement of background and goals

“The statement should contain a brief description of your field of interest, related background, desired study and/or research emphasis and your career goals”

  • GRE scores * (unless you have a previous graduate degree - MA, MS, or JD)
  • Transcripts for all previous degree credit
  • 3 letters of recommendation

*The GRE general test is computer-based and available at many test center locations in NYS. The test is available by appointment.

Please submit all application materials by July 1. We will continue to review applications for fall admission as long as there is space available in fall classes. If your application is complete except for the GRE score, please contact Fran Reynolds (see below for contact information).

Not enough time for a degree application?

You may begin the MSIS program as a non-degree graduate student. You may take up to 12 credits as a non-degree student and bring these credits into the MSIS degree program. Non-degree applications should be submitted as soon as possible, but will be accepted until classes begin. Fall semester classes begin on August 25. After the 25 th, a late registration fee will be in effect

You need to submit:

  • One-page application form and $20 application fee
  • Transcript from your highest degree
